Phurba Tashi - CLIMBING SHERPAS

Phurba was born in 1971 and lives in Khumjung. Phurba began by following in his Fathers footsteps as an expedition cook boy, where Russell first discovered him realizing that his potential was not being fully realized.

Phurba has now worked on many Himalayan Experience expeditions, has been to the summit of Everest 18 times, Cho Oyo 5 times, Manaslu twice, Ama Dablam twice, Lhotse once and Shishapangma once.
In 2007, he reached the top of the world three times in one season.

Phurba has climbed over 26  8000m summits - the most ever climbed by one person.

He is Himalayan Experience’s main climbing Sirdar (head Sherpa) and is often referred to as the "Everest Yak" because of his immense strength at altitude and superior logistical knowledge.
