K2 Expedition #10 -The Daily Moraine 201527 July 2015
Making progress on Broad Peak
These last few days we have been slowly making progress on Broad Peak, and now Woody, Shinji, Semba, Naoki, Rene, Sergey, Nick and Billi are ensconced in C3 along with Ngwang, Tenjing, Furu, Pasang, Urken, Nazir, Parwana and Iqbal are also so there in support. This morning there was some fresh snow but in fact this made the conditions a little better as they made their way from C2 to C3. The other Sherpas also carried loads in support of this summit push tomorrow.

It looks like there is a 50/50 chance of success tomorrow depending on wind/snow/cloud conditions. We know that some other very strong teams have not been able to reach the summit due to the deep snow, so we will have to see how it turns out for our team. It appears that cloud might come and go, but now also we are on the edge of the jet stream winds, so we will all have to wait and see how the day dawns tomorrow.
Our porters will arrive at BC on 31 July and we will then start our return trek on 01 Aug, so this is our last effort to reach the summit.
But at BC it is still very hot, and Dick continues to have a stream of local porters coming for medical consultation as other teams prepare to leave BC.
I have just heard that David was unable to fly from Skardu to Islamabad and that he travelled overland over the Karakorum Highway, and will be back in the city in another couple of hours where he can catch his international flight back to London.
I hope that I have good news tomorrow.
