Manaslu peak
Himalayan Experience gears up to start our 42 commercial expedition and 6th to Manaslu. Last week Puri one of the long term cook staff walked into Samagon and went up to Base Camp in order to reserve space at our normal camping place that we have been developing and keeping clean since our first trip to Manaslu in 2008. Phurba TashiToday the Sherpa staff lead by Phurba Tashi left Kathmandu to drive to Besisahar where they will start their 4 day walk to Samagon. And it was also encouraging to hear that our 135 porters have also arrived in Samagon this morning, so expedition progress is steady.

Now we just need the members to arrive in Kathmandu.

I hear that the road construction continues in Kathmandu, so with the monsoon rains travel within the city tends to be quite muddy in places. But despite a heavy monsoon it looks like it is starting to clear, so we hope to have good weather for the helicopter flights into Samagon at the end of the month. Again we will be using the services of Simrik Air and Siddartha the pilot who carried out the rescue operation on Manaslu after the avalanche last year. Also Jason Laing the Kiwi pilot who helped so much this last Everest season will be flying for Simrik.

We will keep you informed of progress as members start arriving into Kathmandu.
