Manaslu Expedition #414 September 2015

Very good progress.

These last few days have been somewhat wet and boring here at Base Camp.

We were very lucky with the weather early on and so we have made very good progress on the hill with camps 1 and 2 established and between the various teams we have also been able to fix rope to C3. Our team members went to C1 and spent one night there before climbing up the Hour Glass to C2. Our normally reliable weather forecast from Meteotest predicted that bad weather was coming in, so we did not stay at C2 and so all members returned to BC. Sure enough we woke to the sound of rain falling on our tents. Although we did expect the rain to be more persistent, it has however not been good enough to be working on the hill, especially as we can expect better weather in the coming days.

In the meanwhile we have been trying to fill in the days with yoga classes, movies, volleyball, badminton and card playing.

With luck we will all be back on the hill again tomorrow with Sherpas taking C3 loads to be stored at C2, and members going back up to C1 and then to spend a couple of nights at C2 for acclimatisation.
